Traditional Martial Arts Instruction in the Gallatin Valley
Class Offerings
Traditional Martial Arts
Kung Fu means hard work over time to achieve mastery. In Chun Kuo Kung Fu, expect to spend time practicing strikes, kicks, blocks, locks, and takedowns within the framework of the five animals: Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Crane, and Leopard. Chun Kuo Kung Fu is structured to take a student on a journey of self development through the three levels on which we interact with the world: physical (Jing), energetic/emotional (Qi), and spiritual (Shen).
The ultimate goal of your training in Kung Fu, though, is not victory in the ring or on the battlefield. It is cultivating your inner strength to become the best version of yourself.
The goal of our curriculum is to teach fundamental principles so that students build the mental flexibility to apply what they have learned dynamically. We believe that after learning the fundamentals it is important to learn how to adapt what you’ve learned to any situation. We emphasize practical self-defense techniques and personal growth through traditional martial arts training, offering a transformative experience that enhances both your physical skills and self-confidence.
Kung Fu
This versatile framework combines two distinct approaches: the powerful, strength-based "Drop Fist" technique and the strategic, cunning "Death Step" method. Training in Chicken Foot Ninjutsu encompasses learning combatives, weapons training, reflex enhancement, acrobatics, and the use of traditional ninja tools.
However, the core philosophy behind this ninjutsu emphasizes mental flexibility and adaptability. By focusing on these aspects, we ensure that our students develop not only physical skills but also the mental agility necessary to face life's challenges both on and off the mat.
This style is specifically designed to be inclusive and adaptable, catering to individuals of all ages, body types, and physical abilities. Whether you're a young athlete, someone with a disability, or an elderly person looking to enhance your self-defense skills, Chicken Foot Ninjutsu provides a path to personal growth and empowerment without the need for intense physical conditioning.

Qigong
There are hundreds if not thousands of different forms of Qigong. Broadly speaking, they are subdivided into three categories: health, martial arts, and spiritual. While we teach a few martial Qigong forms, the majority of our focus is on cultivation of health. This is accomplished through increasing the student’s vital energy, Qi, and aiding its unhindered flow throughout the body using mindfulness and meditative practices, combined with breathwork and prescribed movement patterns. In biomedical terms, we teach students how to influence their physiology through better understanding their own nervous systems. A typical Qigong class will look from the outside similar to a group meditation with participants seated, or like a taichi class with slow, flowing movements.

Meet The Instructors
Noah Visscher, Head Instructor
Noah is the owner and head instructor of Third Mountain. He has been training for almost 30 years and has over 15 years of experience teaching martial arts. His passion is for helping students discover their own strengths, and step into their confidence, often with the help of Star Wars or Dungeons and Dragons references. Noah loves to incorporate the mental side of the martial arts into his lessons: stress inoculation, visualizing success, and regulating the nervous system through breathwork are some of his favorites.
Noah grew up playing with toy swords on his grandmother’s land just east of Bozeman and Montana has always been home. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Performance and a Masters in Acupuncture. The theory and philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine heavily influence his approach to the martial arts. Noah is excited to offer the life changing experiences afforded by traditional martial arts training to the people of Gallatin Valley.
Noah holds black belt or equivalent ranks in Chun Kuo Kung Fu and Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.
Arri Lund, Ninjutsu Instructor
Arri grew up in the mountains of Montana and started training in martial arts at the age of 6. At the age of 16, he had the opportunity to participate in a month-long intensive course in Chicken Foot Ninjutsu and fell in love. He completed his Ninjutsu training and instructor certification 2 years later and now has over 18 years of Ninjutsu experience.
Arri is passionate about creating opportunities for students to be creative and discover their own solutions to problems. He emphasizes flow and real world application in his teaching, but isn’t afraid to throw a few anime references in to help make his point. Arri loves teaching because it is an opportunity to learn twice. Teaching also affords him the opportunity to watch the art of Ninjutsu grow and evolve as each student makes it their own.
